MINUTES: November 01, 2000 Meeting

The meeting started at 7:30 with President John Artuso in the chair.  There were twenty members present.  Frank Basso Sr. moved that last meeting’s minutes as reported in the newsletter be adopted.  Seconded by Glen Morrison.

Treasurer Doug Ireland reported on the proposed budget for 2001.  He pointed out that the necessity for extra work at the field put our field maintenance costs over budget this past year and that the amount budgeted will be increased by $200 for next year.  A field location fund is to be established to provide funds should we have to relocate our flying site in the future.  $10 from each $75 membership fee will be set-aside for this purpose.  In the ensuing discussion, Ivan Kristensen stressed that this fund should be kept separate for that purpose only and designated as such, or it will easily disappear into general funds and be used up.  Doug assured the meeting that it would be separate.  (Ivan has since made a generous donation to the fund.)

Doug has prepared a copy of the 2001 budget for your perusal.  Contact Doug if you would like to see a copy.

On December 8 at the Christmas party, the Leno Sanvido Award and the Most Improved Flyer Award will be presented.  The President would like your nominations for these awards.  Think about it and give Johnny a call.

We applaud two members who have agreed to stand for the office of Vice-President.  They are Dave Hanson and Craig Skinner.  We still need nominations for Secretary.

Application forms for next year’s memberships are available from the Treasurer.  Doug stresses that forms must be filled out to accompany your fee.

The Chairman stated that in looking over the club’s by-laws he has found that they should be updated and suggested a review committee.  Bill Hamer offered to help in this project.

Discussion returned to the subject of a field location, and that a steering committee be formed to look into possible new sites in the event that a new field might be necessary.  Glen Morrsion will head the committee.

Jake Brandsma won $17 in the 50/50 draw.  It pays to attend meetings!!!!

Adjournment was moved by Bill Hamer and seconded by Steve Melville.

The minutes of this meeting were taken by Don LeBlanc (Thanks Don)

REMINDER: Last date to pay for your Christmas Party Tickets is December 01, 2000
